Propane: The Smart Choice for Vehicle Fuel
Key Benefits
- Pay Less -- Propane costs less at the
pump than gasoline!
- Most any gasoline engine can be easily
converted to burn propane!
- Cleaner Burning -- Ultra-low emissions
that exceed the Clean-Air Act of 1995!
- Less Maintenance -- A propane powered
engine could last up to THREE TIMES longer than the same gasoline
powered engine!
- Safety, Safety, Safety -- Between 1998
and 2000 there were .5 fatalities per 100,000 propane vehicles
and 20 per 100,000 gasoline vehicles!
There's absolutely nothing new about Propane
conversions. Excellent equipment built for this reason has been
around for over 40 years. There are more than 200,000 Propane
powered vehicles in the United States and approximately 9 million
worldwide. The technology is well proven and EPA approved. To
the left, you
can
see an engine that has been converted to run on propane. Notice,
there are very few modifications. The two pictures on the right show
the major engine components required to run a vehicle on propane.
The regulator (silver and round), the Lock Off (black and grey) and the
Idle Motor (brass and blue). There are many more necessary parts like the
Computer Control Unit and the fuel switch, both which mount in the dash,
inside the vehicle.
From Maine to California Propane powered vehicles result in
lower operating and maintenance costs, much longer engine life and 60%
less air pollution according to EPA tests. The availability of Propane
also makes it an appealing vehicle fuel, currently there are more than 10,000
Propane fueling stations over all 50 states! Also, 85% of Propane is
produced in the United States! Fueling your vehicle with Propane will help
reduce our country's dependency on Foreign Oil! Unlike gasoline, Propane
enters your engine as a completely vaporized fuel that's free from lead, carbon,
gum, sulfur and most pollutants. Propane won't foul your car's plugs, ruin
its valves, contaminate its oil, or burn out its muffler, along with many other
things. The U.S. Department of Energy has stated a Propane Powered engine
could last up to THREE TIMES LONGER than the same engine powered by gasoline!
For example, many fleets that run on Propane have reported extended time between
required maintenance. Spark plugs in
unleaded gasoline engines need to be replaced every 30,000 miles, but spark
plugs in Propane powered
engines can last 80,000 to 100,000 miles!
Propane also has a higher octane rating, 104 to 112 as compared to gasoline
which is 87 to 92, causing engines burning Propane to run much more efficiently.
Mileage and performance running on Propane are about the same as with gasoline,
however, the cost of Propane per gallon runs FAR less than you've been paying
for gasoline. Couple that with far less problems and
maintenance
and you are saving A LOT of money!
Conversion kits can be purchased to make YOUR car, truck,
or van run on propane. The most common conversion come with a dashboard
switch, which will allow you to change between Propane and gasoline while
driving! These kits are a installed by certified propane technicians and
are completely sealed systems making it extremely SAFE! Contact Superior
Propane today to get your vehicle converted to Propane and enjoy saving money
AND the environment! See our Home Page for contact
info.
Below is a list of vehicles which conversion kits can be
purchased. This list grows all the time. If your vehicle is not
listed, all hope is not lost! Contact Superior Propane, many kits are
universal and can be applied to many different makes and models! Check our
